Description

This is a very fine Silver Shadow II finished in 2-tone Pewter (metallic) over Brewster green (non-metallic) with dark green fine-lines to the waistlines. The interior is finished in very rare and striking “House of Commons” green Connolly hide leather with matching carpets and dash. This totally original and factory combination is rarely seen on Shadow IIs and is handsomely striking. The combination ties in very well with the exterior colour scheme. This is a very clean and original Texan example its whole life that was well cared for by its 2 previous mature owners. It is totally original in presentation with no modifications. It does have an Alpine stereo system fitted in the mid 80s in addition to its factory Pioneer tape deck in its original position. A nice genuine touch. The body on this Shadow II is very straight and the paint is shiny and lustrous. The car appears to be mostly original with only the lower Brewster green having been repainted recently. When you look down the sides of the car, they are very straight and true and the paint is pretty much perfect. The top half paint presents well, as clearly depicted in the photos, but does have minor little marks here and there and slight fade but very minimal (only mentioned out of clear disclosure) in some areas and totally within what one would expect for being 43 years old. The very fact the top half is original just confirms the cosseted life the car has had. Normally, for Silver Shadow, metallic paints are “done” well before this. It does have the Rolls-Royce signature stressing at the base of the A & C pillars, but these are quite minimal and overall is otherwise in amazing condition given the age of the paint finish. Certainly, it needs nothing other than a wax from time to time. Being a Texan car, the underside is entirely rust free and very clean. Overall, the car is minor on blemishes and marks so presents well - well above average for a Rolls-Royce of this age. As a daily driver, the paint presents as a 9 out-of-10. The rich green interior presents stunningly, very clean and fresh with the leather in an excellent state. Importantly, and rare to see today, the Connolly hides have NEVER been re-dyed. This is something quite unique as usually the leather after this many years becomes soiled and begins to crack. This is the best testament for the car being a low-mileage and well-cared for example. The leather is not only "clean" but remains supple with the perfect amount of gentle patina. The dramatic green is stunning but I guess you need to like green – I happen to love it! The wood on this Shadow II is also all original. A couple of minor hair-line fractures in the door cappings are quite welcomed with the knowledge that the finish is totally factory original. Further testament of a well-kept example. The dash is very nice also. The wood otherwise presents quite well; not perfect, but very nice! Further bonuses include; rear parcel shelf in excellent condition and very clean broad-cloth headlining in the rare sage green – only ever used with green interior (otherwise normally beige or grey). The signature Wilton wool carpets are in excellent shape. The factory supplied mouton overlay rugs are a great touch and are in good condition. The rich green carpeting theme carries through to the trunk and is in great condition, bar a couple of small marks near the battery compartment on the left. All features, gauges, instruments and electrics work well. All interior lights and dash lights are all fully working. Heater and air-conditioning are fully functional. These are all thoroughly gone thru by Park-Ward. For example, we service all the windows to ensure smooth and swift up and down movement (windows often get very slow on Silver Shadows). Mechanically, the car is subject to the 40 year service and restoration experience of the Park-Ward Motor Museum's private workshop and trained RR mechanics and craftsmen.
